SUMMARY:Meet the February artists\, the 5th grade Prairie View Elementary Students
DESCRIPTION:The talented 5th grade art students will be at Elmaro on Sunday\, March 1st\, 1-4 p.m. to tell you all about how they created their paintings. \nAnd here’s a bit about their instructor:  My name is Amy Wink\, and I am the full time art teacher at Prairie View Elementary School in Holmen\, WI.  I have been teaching in Holmen for 29 years.  I absolutely love my job as it is so very rewarding working with young artists. I enjoy helping my students learn about art\, the variety of media / techniques\, watching them be creative\, express themselves\, and of course….have fun!   I love seeing the excitement and pride that creating art brings my students.  In my classroom there is no right or wrong answer or way of creating. I value that each student can dare to be different and each artwork created can be unique with individual ideas and styles.  A favorite part of my job is to proudly display student artwork in our school and community for all to see\, talk about\, and enjoy.  \nThe theme of this display is “Wildlife Art.”  These featured artists are all in the 5th grade at Prairie View; many of whom I have had the pleasure of teaching and watching grow up since Kindergarten.  These tempera paintings were originally inspired by a student selected photograph.  Students first drew the image through using a “gridding” technique.  This helps the artist focus on line\, shape\, size\, proportion\, and placement of objects in the photograph.  In painting\, students learned a variety of skills; such as color mixing\, overlapping\, and ways of working with different brushes and sponges to create texture.  Some artists worked further into their piece with colored pencils for details\, outlining\, and/or textures.   \nDidn’t these young artists do an amazing job?  Thank you to Elmaro Vineyard for inviting us to share our art with you!   Feel free to support our young artists and our art department at Prairie View by purchasing our greeting cards featuring some of your favorite paintings.  \nAmy Wink \nPrairie View Elementary Art Teacher  \nHolmen\, WI
